Mangaluru : A solemn condolence meeting was held at St Aloysius ITI on Tuesday to pay heartfelt tribute to Leo D’Souza, SJ, former Director of the institution, who passed away on January 20, 2026. Rev. Dr. Leo D’Souza served St Aloysius ITI with dedication and distinction from 1990 to 2006, leaving behind a lasting legacy of leadership, discipline, and compassion.
The condolence programme brought together management, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and well-wishers, reflecting the deep respect and affection he commanded within the Aloysian fraternity.
Prayerful beginning and words of remembrance
The programme commenced with Mr Noel serving as the Master of Ceremonies. He warmly welcomed the gathering and offered a brief introduction highlighting the life, service, and values of the departed soul. This was followed by a prayer service led by Mr Wilson, invoking eternal peace for Rev. Dr. Leo D’Souza and strength for all those grieving his loss.

Mr Roshan D’Souza, Principal of St Aloysius ITI, delivered a moving address recalling the inspiring life journey of Rev. Dr. Leo D’Souza, SJ. An open session was then held for sharing personal reflections and memories. Mr Romius D’Souza (Retired JTO), Mr Umesh (Retired JTO), Mr Divakar (Ex-JTO), and Mr Arun fondly recalled their interactions with Rev. Dr. Leo D’Souza. They spoke of his simplicity, unwavering commitment to duty, deep concern for students, and the humane values he consistently upheld.
Speakers remembered him as a mentor who balanced discipline with empathy, and as an administrator who led by example rather than authority.

A flower petal offering ceremony followed, during which students, staff members, and alumni paid their respects by offering petals before the portrait of the departed soul. The gesture symbolised gratitude, reverence, and remembrance for a life dedicated to education and service.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr Roshan D’Souza, who expressed gratitude to all those who participated and contributed to making the condolence meeting meaningful and dignified.
