Riyadh: Dakshina Kannada Muslim Okkoota (DKMO), Riyadh, successfully held its 16th Annual General Body Meeting (AGBM) at Ramada Hotel, Batha, with over 150 members participating from various taluks of South Karnataka.

Focus on community service and welfare

The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mohammed Ali Kolkar, followed by a welcome address by Master of Ceremony Nazeer Ahmed. Key office-bearers, including President Fazlu Rahman Kolkar, General Secretary Irshad Bajpe, Vice President Mohammed Asif, and chief guest Br Ilyas Yermal, were invited to the dais.

Over the past 18 years, DKMO has been actively engaged in community service, particularly through its flagship Family Relief Fund (FRF) initiative. Under this scheme, the organisation has provided ₹3 lakh each to families of deceased members in their hometowns. Additionally, DKMO has supported ailing NRIs by arranging air tickets for their return when they were unable to afford travel expenses.

Annual report and key addresses

During the meeting, Br Abdul Aziz presented the annual report, outlining the organisation’s achievements and future plans. Senior member Hanif Bardila highlighted the importance of charity and urged members to continue contributing to humanitarian efforts.

Chief guest Ilyas Yermal appreciated DKMO’s consistent work in supporting the community and strengthening welfare initiatives.

In his presidential address, Fazlu Rahman Kolkar expressed gratitude to members and committee executives for their continued support and cooperation.

Felicitations and new committee formation

As part of the event, DKMO honoured Br Ghani Ahmed, Br Ashraf Khozi and Br Shamsuddin Addoor for their outstanding service and contributions to the organisation.

The existing committee was later dissolved, and elections were conducted under the supervision of Br Ilyas Yermal and Br Haneef B K. A total of 29 members joined the newly formed committee.

Fazlu Rahman Kolkar was re-elected as President, with Br Asif Kannur appointed as Vice President and Irshad Bajpe continuing as General Secretary.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening DKMO’s mission of community service and welfare support.

The AGBM concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Nazeer Ahmed.
