Abu Dhabi: The Konkani Prayer Group (KPG), Abu Dhabi, will celebrate its silver anniversary on 22nd February 2025 with a thanksgiving Mass and a cultural programme.
A legacy of faith and service
Founded on 18th February 2000, KPG was established under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Eugene Mattioli, OFM Cap, then parish priest of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Abu Dhabi. The group is known for its weekly prayer meetings, intercessory prayers, and monthly Eucharistic Adoration, held at Assisi Hall with a dedicated choir and vibrant praise and worship sessions. Currently, Rev. Fr. Marian Miranda, OFM Cap serves as the group’s spiritual director.
Preparations and competitions
Planning for the silver jubilee began in June 2024, with multiple committees formed to oversee various aspects of the celebration. Competitions like Bible quizzes, singing, fancy dress, skits on parables, and elocution were organised in the last quarter of 2024 as part of the build-up to the event.
A grand reunion
KPG’s membership comprises individuals from Mangaluru, Goa, Karwar, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Mysuru. The event is expected to draw a large gathering, including former members who have relocated worldwide or returned to their native places.
A souvenir chronicling 25 years of KPG’s journey will be released during the celebration, highlighting the group’s contributions and milestones.
