Ram Mandir Marks First Anniversary on Kurma Dwadashi

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is celebrating the first anniversary of the Ram Mandir‘s ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony on January 11, 2025, rather than January 22, the date of last year’s grand event. This change follows a significant decision made by the temple trust, aligning with Hindu traditions of observing festivals according to the Hindu calendar.

According to the Hindu Panchang, the consecration ceremony was held on Paush Shukla Paksh Dwadashi, also known as Kurma Dwadashi. In 2025, this auspicious day falls on January 11, prompting the trust to honor the ceremony on this date annually. The decision reflects the cultural and astrological significance of the Hindu calendar, as opposed to the Gregorian calendar.

In consultation with spiritual leaders, the trust confirmed that the anniversary will now be observed on Paush Shukla Dwadashi every year, marking it as Pratishtha Dwadashi. This adjustment strengthens the connection of the temple’s celebrations with Hindu customs.

The Ram Mandir, which was officially inaugurated on January 22, 2024, ended a long period of legal and political disputes over the sacred site. The inauguration ceremony, attended by many devotees and dignitaries, marked a pivotal moment in Indian history.

The temple trust’s decision to follow traditional Hindu dates for celebrations highlights the deep-rooted connection between the temple and the cultural values of the community.
