Mangaluru: The Sikh community in Mangaluru gathered at the Gurudwara Guru Singh Sabha Society, near Kottara Chowki, to commemorate the birth anniversary of their 10th Guru, Guru Govind Singh Ji. Known for his profound spiritual teachings and exemplary leadership, Guru Govind Singh Ji was born on December 22, 1666, in Patna, Bihar.
Celebrations and Dignitaries
The event was marked by a vibrant Shabd Kirtan, drawing devotees and dignitaries alike. Congress president and former MLC Harish Kumar expressed his joy at being part of the celebration, stating, “I am delighted to know there is a Gurudwara here in Mangaluru. I thank Vicky Singh for inviting me to celebrate Guru Parv.”
Sadashiv Ullal, chairman of urban development, also attended, offering his respects and reminiscing about his time working with former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. “I feel fortunate to be present on the birth anniversary of Guru Govind Singh Ji,” he said, adding that he was proud to have collaborated with the esteemed leader.
Musical and Spiritual Offerings
The celebration featured soulful Bhajan Kirtan performed by a group of dedicated musicians, including Gurunam Singh Vicky, Amarjeet Singh, Gurmeet Singh Monty, and others, who brought a sense of devotion and harmony to the occasion.
The event concluded with Ardaas and Hukamnama delivered by the Gurudwara’s Granthi, Karam Singh Ji, followed by a traditional Langar Prasad served to attendees at 1:30 pm, symbolizing unity and community spirit.
