Michigan, USA – The All America Tulu Association (AATA) has unveiled its prestigious Sirimudi Awards, set to be presented during the inaugural Siri Parba 2025 convention, scheduled for July 4th and 5th, 2025, in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. This initiative aims to honour and promote excellence in Tulu literature and culture on a global scale.
AATA, a non-profit organisation founded on Bisu Parba, April 14, 2021, is dedicated to preserving and promoting the Tulu language, literature, and traditions. The association undertakes various activities such as Tulu-speaking and Tulu Lipi (script) classes, Yakshagana lessons, Tabla instruction, and matrimonial services. AATA also operates an online Tulu library, the Rani Abbakka Genada Chavadi, which offers an extensive collection of Tulu literary works.
Introduction of the Sirimudi Awards
The Sirimudi Awards were announced by AATA President Shreevalli Rai Martel, Siri Parba 2025 Convenor Ranjani Asaigoli, and Award Selection Committee Head Prashanth Kumar Mattu. These awards are designed to recognise and reward exceptional contributions to Tulu literature in two distinct categories:
- AATA Sirimudi Award for Tulu Script (Lipi)
- AATA Sirimudi Award for Non-Tulu Script, which includes literary works in Tulu using Kannada or English scripts.
The awards, sponsored by AATA Founder President Bhaskar Sherigar, will be presented every four years. Each award carries a cash prize of ₹75,000, a commemorative plaque, and a certificate of recognition.
Eligibility and Submission Guidelines
The Sirimudi Awards are open to all forms of literary work in the Tulu language, such as novels, plays, poetry, essays, speeches, short stories, historical narratives, philosophical writings, and translations. Both unpublished works and those published after April 14, 2021, are eligible for submission.
The awards aim to celebrate works demonstrating exceptional talent, quality, and dedication to the preservation of Tulu language and literature. This global competition welcomes entries from all enthusiasts passionate about Tulu culture.
