Dubai, UAE: St. Mary’s Mangalorean Community Dubai (SMMC Dubai) has announced the formation of its Executive Core Committee for the term 2026–2028, marking a new phase of leadership, service, and community engagement for the Konkani-speaking Catholic community associated with St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

The new Executive Core Committee was formally announced during the Konkani Mass held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dubai. The newly appointed members took oath under the leadership and guidance of Rev. Fr. Victor Fernandes OFM Cap, Spiritual Director of SMMC Dubai.

Mr. Boniface Carlo has been appointed as the Coordinator and will lead the newly constituted team of office bearers representing various parishes from the Mangalore and Udupi dioceses.

Continuing a legacy of faith and community service

Since its inception in 2013, SMMC Dubai has played a significant role in uniting the Mangalorean Konkani Catholic community in Dubai through spiritual, cultural, and social initiatives.

Over the years, the organisation has emerged as an important platform for Konkani liturgy, cultural celebrations, youth participation, charitable outreach, welfare initiatives, and family engagement.

For the Mangalorean Catholic diaspora residing in the UAE, SMMC Dubai continues to serve as a meaningful link connecting faith, language, culture, and community identity.

The organisation has consistently worked towards preserving the rich heritage and traditions of the Mangalorean Catholic community while encouraging active participation in Church life and community development.

New committee to focus on unity and participation

The newly appointed Executive Core Committee brings together members with diverse parish backgrounds, community experience, and a shared commitment towards service and community welfare.

The team will collectively support liturgical services, volunteer coordination, media communication, outreach activities, cultural programmes, sports initiatives, youth engagement, and welfare-related activities.

The Executive Core Committee for the 2026–2028 term includes:

Spiritual Director appreciates outgoing committee

Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Fr. Victor Fernandes OFM Cap appreciated the outgoing committee for their dedicated and selfless service to the community during their tenure.

He encouraged the newly appointed members to continue the mission of SMMC Dubai with humility, commitment, determination, and passion while strengthening unity within the community.

The Spiritual Director emphasised the importance of preserving Konkani traditions, encouraging greater participation in liturgical activities, and supporting the spiritual and social needs of families and youth.

New leadership outlines future vision

Mr. Boniface Carlo, the newly appointed Coordinator of SMMC Dubai, expressed gratitude for the trust and confidence placed in the new committee.

He reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to serving the community with unity, dedication, and faith while continuing the organisation’s mission of strengthening spiritual and cultural bonds among Mangalorean Catholics in Dubai.

The new committee is expected to build upon the strong foundation laid by previous leadership teams while bringing renewed energy, collaboration, and innovative initiatives for the benefit of the community.

The 2026–2028 leadership team has outlined its focus on enhancing community participation, supporting youth and families, promoting Konkani culture and liturgy, and continuing welfare and charitable initiatives.

With the appointment of the new Executive Core Committee, SMMC Dubai now looks forward to another meaningful term dedicated to faith-filled service, unity, cultural preservation, and community growth.
