Shirva, Udupi: USWAS Foundation distributed uniforms and shoes to 152 students of Manasa Special School, reaffirming its commitment to community welfare and inclusive education. The distribution programme was held at the school hall in Pamboor in the presence of trustees, donors and well-wishers.

The initiative forms part of the Foundation’s ongoing charitable outreach as it approaches its Silver Jubilee celebrations, reflecting its sustained service to people and institutions in and around Shirva.

A celebration of service and inclusion

The programme commenced with a graceful welcome dance performed by the students, setting a joyful tone for the occasion. Mr John Martis, President of Manasa Trust, presided over the function and formally welcomed the gathering.

Addressing the audience, USWAS Vice President Mr Manoj Menezes said that the organisation remains steadfast in its mission of supporting the underprivileged and strengthening local institutions. He emphasised that providing uniforms not only meets a practical need but also fosters discipline, equality and a sense of belonging among students.

“Uniforms promote unity and help students feel confident and equal,” he remarked, highlighting the broader social value of the initiative.

Appreciation for sustained charitable efforts

Former Vice President of Shirva Parish, Mr Melwyn Aranha, appreciated the charitable activities undertaken by USWAS Foundation and commended the organisation for its consistent contribution to social welfare.

Members of USWAS Foundation including Mr Nitin Castelino, Mr Denis Mathias and Mrs Anisha Machado were present at the event. Local representative Mr Mohan Noronha and Mr Alwyn D’Souza of Alex Textile, Shirva, also participated in the distribution ceremony.

Their collective involvement underscored the collaborative spirit behind the initiative.

Principal Sr Vinni Gonsalves expressed heartfelt gratitude to USWAS Foundation for its generous support, noting that the contribution would significantly benefit the students and their families.

Secretary of the Trust Dr Gerald Pinto, Founder President Dr Edward Lobo and Former President Mr Henry Menezes were also present, along with staff members and students. The programme was compered by the Physical Education Teacher.

The distribution of uniforms and shoes not only addressed essential needs but also reinforced the importance of inclusive support for children with special needs.
