“Complaint Against Vijay Over Iftar Event; ‘Jana Nayagan’ Gears Up for Release”
A complaint has been lodged at the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office against actor-politician Vijay, accusing him of disrespecting Muslim sentiments during a recent Iftar gathering. The Tamil Nadu Sunnath Jamaat, which filed the grievance, criticized the inclusion of individuals perceived as inappropriate for the religious occasion, claiming it undermined the event’s sanctity. They further alleged that Vijay’s lack of an apology displayed insensitivity toward religious concerns.
The Jamaat also pointed to previous mismanagement, referencing Vijay’s first political conference in Vikravandi, where poor planning led to attendees suffering from dehydration. They condemned his approach, citing disrespectful treatment of people and reliance on foreign security guards unfamiliar with local customs. The group insisted on legal measures to prevent future incidents, clarifying that their complaint was not for publicity but to uphold dignity in such gatherings.
Amid this controversy, Vijay remains focused on his upcoming political action thriller, Jana Nayagan. Directed by H. Vinoth, the film marks his 69th and final cinematic venture before a full-fledged political transition. Featuring Pooja Hegde as the female lead and Bobby Deol as the antagonist, the movie also stars Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, and others. Scheduled for release on January 14, 2026, the film has generated massive anticipation.
Meanwhile, Vijay’s last film, GOAT, received mixed reviews, with critics praising action sequences but finding the soundtrack and cinematography underwhelming.
