Fifteen people have been arrested, and 70 others have been booked for allegedly assaulting members of the Dalit community in Bhalki taluk, Bidar district, following a dispute over a processio.n route The incident occurred on November 2 when Dalit youths, who had participated in the annual Hanuman procession in Chalakapura village, were reportedly attacked by upper-caste villagers.
The conflict began when the Dalit community suggested an altered route for the procession, which was resisted by the upper-caste residents. When the Dalit youths insisted, four of them were allegedly assaulted. The victims filed a complaint, leading to the registration of an FIR under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and additional charges under the Indian Penal Code.
The police have arrested 15 people and are actively searching for the remaining suspects. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are committed to bringing justice to the victims.
