Madikeri, Karnataka: After evading capture for several days, Ankur Rana, a key suspect in the murder of Hyderabad-based businessman Ramesh Kumar, was successfully arrested by the Kodagu police. Rana, who had escaped from police custody in Kodagu on October 31, was nabbed by a special investigation team set up by the Kodagu district police. He had initially given the slip during a mahazar in Uppal, near Hyderabad.
Rana, originally from Karnal, Haryana, is accused of murdering Ramesh Kumar and disposing of the body on a coffee estate near Suntikoppa, Kodagu. The incident unfolded when Kumar’s wife, Niharika, along with Rana and another accomplice, Nikhil Myreddy, were involved in the crime. Following the escape, Kodagu police filed a complaint with Telangana authorities and worked tirelessly to track Rana down.
Kodagu SP Ramarajan confirmed the arrest and praised the efforts of the special team in bringing the fugitive to justice.
