A Mumbai woman, Swati Mukund, recently went viral after revealing that her photo appeared on a fake profile on BharatMatrimony’s elite subscription service. In a shocking video post, Mukund expressed her disbelief, highlighting the platform’s failure to properly vet user profiles.
Mukund clarified that she met her husband outside of matrimonial apps and was disturbed to see her picture linked to a fabricated profile under the name “Nithya Raja Sekar,” a 35-year-old fitness professional from Chennai. She criticized BharatMatrimony’s claims of curating and screening profiles, especially in their paid “elite” service, which she said misleads users into paying for a supposedly reliable service.
Displaying a screenshot, Mukund questioned how such a profile could exist despite the platform’s promise of thorough screening. “This is a reminder to all users to be cautious,” she warned, urging people to be discerning when using such platforms.
Her video has sparked a wave of similar complaints from users sharing their experiences with fake profiles on matrimonial apps. One commenter described how their pictures were also used on elite profiles, while others questioned the platform’s lack of proper verification measures.
BharatMatrimony has yet to respond to these allegations, leaving many users worried about the authenticity and security of their profiles.
