Engineering Student, 18, Found Dead by Suicide Near Bengaluru

Police said on Friday that a first-year BTech student at a private engineering college in Heelalige, near Bengaluru, may have killed herself by hanging from a ceiling fan in her dorm room.

They said that Harshitha, 18, has been identified as the student.

The police claim that Harshitha was discovered hanging in her supposedly locked room on Thursday night. A few students informed the college administration after they noticed her body hanging outside the window. After forcing open the door, they hurried her to the hospital, where they pronounced her deceased.

“She died by suicide. However, no suicide note was found from the spot. But we are probing the exact cause that might have led her to take this extreme step,” a senior police officer said.
