Undertrials Injured In Rival Gang Assault Inside Mangaluru Prison

Two undertrials sustained injuries after being allegedly assaulted by members of a rival gang inside the district prison in Mangaluru on Monday evening.

Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal identified the victims as Muhammad Sameer alias Kadapar Sameer (33) and Muhammad Mansoor alias Boliyar Mansoor (30), both of whom were serving judicial custody for the past 20 days in a case registered at Ullal police station.

The attack, which occurred between 6:30 pm and 6:45 pm, involved ten members of a rival gang led by Naufal. The victims suffered head, shoulder, and other bodily injuries from sharp objects taken from the prison kitchen.

They were shifted to Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru and are reported to be out of danger.

Both the victims and the accused, including Muffad Rifat, Muhammed Rizwan, Ibrahim Kallel, Umar Farooq Irfan, Altaf, Naufal, Jainuddin, and others, have multiple cases and rowdy sheets against them. The incident was captured on CCTV, and a case has been registered at Barke police station for further investigation.
