Davanagere: In an extraordinary act of generosity, a farmer from Shiraganahalli village in Harapanahalli taluk, Vishwanath, has earned admiration for taking 10 women agricultural laborers on a flight to Goa, offering them an unforgettable experience.

Vishwanath, who cultivates arecanut on his 14-acre farm, wanted to express gratitude to his long-time workers. Determined to give them a once-in-a-lifetime gift, he arranged their first-ever air travel from Shivamogga to Dabolim, turning their dream into reality.

A former police constable in the state intelligence department, Vishwanath left his job to embrace full-time farming. He believes in keeping his laborers happy and wanted to make their wish of flying come true.

Initially, he had planned a pilgrimage to Tirupati, but due to the Aero India show, he opted for Goa instead. “Since Shivamogga was the closest airport, we chose to fly there,” he said.

The women, initially anxious during take-off and landing, grew more comfortable by the return journey. Their excitement knew no bounds as they explored Calangute and Baga beaches, enjoyed a Mandovi River boat ride, and toured Panaji.

Seeing their happiness was his greatest reward. “Farming has given me a healthier, stress-free life, and making my workers happy brings me immense joy,” he said.
