St Aloysius International School and Pre-University College in Amaravati, Harihar, celebrated the feast of St Ignatius of Loyola with great fervor. The event also marked the induction of new student council leaders, highlighting their responsibility in their roles.

Chief guest Ramakrishna P R, executive officer of Harihar taluk panchayat, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe environment free from drug mafia activities. He praised the institution for its security and urged students to respect teachers, farmers, and soldiers. Guest of honor Durgappa D, block education officer of Harihar, commended the school’s disciplined and cultured environment.

Fr George KA, rector and parish priest of the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Health, Harihar, blessed the occasion. Distinguished guests were escorted to the stage with NCC band honors and felicitated with mementos. The event included an interfaith prayer and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Student Varsha Chaudhari delivered a speech on the significance of the day.

The inauguration of the newly established student council was a highlight. Fr Vinod AJ SJ, the school principal, administered the oath to the office bearers. Melvita Braganza and Mohammed Owais were nominated as head girl and head boy. Prizes were awarded for essay writing and painting competitions focused on St Ignatius of Loyola.

Fr Eric Mathias SJ, director, urged students to become cultured, compassionate, and enlightened citizens. The event concluded with cultural performances, a vote of thanks, and the national anthem.
