
Delhi man arrested for Flipkart cyber fraud in Mangaluru
The Mangaluru Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics Crime (CEN) police have arrested Gaurav Makwan, 25, a Delhi resident, for cyber fraud involving the misuse of a Flipkart account.
The case unfolded when Yadunandan, the victim, received a dubious WhatsApp message. While downloading an app linked to the message, his Flipkart account was compromised. The fraudsters exploited the account to purchase two mobile phones and gift vouchers totaling ₹1.31 lakh. Yadunandan promptly filed a complaint with the CEN police.
During the investigation, ASI Gurappakanti and Constable Tippareddy tracked down and detained Gaurav Makwan in Delhi. The police confiscated assets valued at ₹4 lakh from the accused, including an Android phone, an iPhone, AirPods, and the mobile device used to execute the fraud.
The accused was produced before a court, which ordered his judicial custody. Investigations are ongoing to uncover potential links to other cybercrimes.
