Hubballi: The Old Hubballi police have arrested eight suspects in connection with the alleged murder of Akash Matpathi. The 30-year-old Akash was found dead at a lake near Lohia Nagar in the city on Saturday evening.
Akash was the son of Shekharayya Matpathi, president of the Hubballi Autorickshaw Drivers Union. Shekharayya alleged that his son was murdered by a relative of his wife and registered a case at the Old Hubballi police station, naming 12 individuals.
Akash suffered a head injury, and the police are awaiting the post-mortem and FSL reports to determine whether he was hit by an object and if it was a murder or something else.
Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar, speaking to reporters, said that eight suspects, namely Sanju Koppad, Arjun Malagi, Karthikraj, Mahesh, Rahul Kamble, Vinayak Talikote, and Manoj, have been arrested.
The investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining suspects mentioned in the FIR, according to the police.
