The 17th edition of the Dharwad district Kannada Sahitya Sammelana is set to take place on February 3 and 4 at Karnataka Vidyavardhaka Sangha Hall in Dharwad. Library scientist S.R. Gunjal has been chosen as the president of this prestigious literary gathering.

According to KSP district unit president Lingaraj Angadi, Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu will hoist the national flag at 8:30 AM on February 3 at Sahitya Bhavan, while senior counsel Basavaprabhu Hosakeri will raise the Kannada flag. This will be followed by the ‘Walk for Kannada’ at 9:30 AM and a poetry session, ‘Kelona Banni,’ at 10 AM.

Renowned writer Mrutyunjaya Rumale will officially inaugurate the festival, and Professor Malati Pattenshetti will deliver the keynote address. S.R. Gunjal is also scheduled to give a speech, highlighting key literary and cultural concerns. Additionally, KSP president Mahesh Joshi will release books, while district in-charge minister Santosh Lad will inaugurate the book fair.

The two-day event will feature four engaging sessions where eminent writers, including Shamsunder Bidarkundi, Venkatesh Machaknur, Dushyanth Nadagouda, Prof. Anusuya Kamble, Satish Kulkarni, Chidanand Mansur, Shankar Halgatti, and B.A. Patil, will discuss critical issues related to Kannada language, environment, and heritage.

The concluding session on February 4 will be presided over by Davangere University Vice-Chancellor B.D. Kumbar. The event will also include an interactive session with Prof. Gunjal, ensuring an enriching experience for literature enthusiasts.
