A 35-year-old woman from Sattur, Dharwad, fell prey to a cyber scam, losing ₹26.86 lakh while attempting to earn money online. Suchita Halli was added to a WhatsApp group promoting online income opportunities, where she was convinced to download an app named “Saxo” for investment purposes.
Over a span from April 24 to May 14, Halli transferred funds from three bank accounts, enticed by the group’s promises. Realizing the fraud only after failing to see any returns, she reported the incident to the cyber crime police.
