Hubli: Electrical equipment worth ₹33.81 crore has been damaged due to heavy rains and winds in seven districts under the Hubli Electricity Supply Company Limited (HESCOM) from April to June. Belgaum district suffered the highest loss of ₹8.78 crore.

A total of 1,216 power transformers and 10,076 power poles were affected across Dharwad, Belgaum, Vijayapur, Uttara Kannada, Gadag, Haveri, and Bagalkot districts. Out of these, 1,214 transformers and 10,076 poles have been repaired. Additionally, out of the 94.47 km of damaged power lines, 92.24 km have been repaired.

Belgaum sustained extensive damage with 2,563 electric poles toppled and 477 transformers damaged. The district also saw 2.54 km of electrical wire damaged during the period. Almost all repair works are nearing completion.

In light of these damages incurred by heavy rain and windstorms across several districts within their jurisdiction, Managing Director Mohammad Roshan announced that the crew has completed repair work at a high speed, as per a release by HESCOM.”
