Mangaluru: Milagres College, in association with its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organised Anweshan-2025, a National Level Paper Presentation Competition on 26 May 2025, providing a valuable platform for budding researchers to showcase their academic work.
Held on the college campus, the event aimed to encourage systematic, evidence-based thinking among students, with a special focus on research methodology and presentation skills.
Emphasis on research as a pursuit of knowledge
The inaugural session featured two eminent academicians as chief guests.
Dr. Linus Benedicta Pinto, former Professor and Research Guide at Srinivas University, described research as a creative and structured process aimed at enhancing human knowledge through evidence-based study.
“It involves the collection, organisation, and analysis of information to better understand a subject,” she said, motivating students to take their research journeys seriously.
Dr. Paul G. Aquinas, Professor and Chairman, Department of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Social Work at Mangalore University, further emphasised the value of purposeful enquiry.
“Research is the pursuit of knowledge and the quest for truth, done using a systematic strategy,” he noted.
Celebrating student researchers
The event was presided over by Rev. Dr. Michael Santhumayor, Principal of Milagres College. Also present on the dais was Mrs. Chetana Kumari, IQAC Coordinator.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mrs. Glancia Fernandes, Head of the Department of Business Administration. The event was compered by student representative Tenzil, and the vote of thanks was delivered by event coordinator Dr. Asha Jyothi.
Active participation and recognition
A total of 21 student researchers participated in the competition, each presenting papers on diverse themes and domains. The competition encouraged not only presentation skills but also analytical thinking and academic rigour.
Cash prizes were awarded to students who delivered the best paper presentations, while certificates were distributed to all participants during the valedictory session, recognising their commitment to academic exploration.
Milagres College reaffirmed its role as an incubator of young minds, committed to promoting a culture of research, academic integrity, and knowledge-sharing through such national-level platforms.
