As exam season wraps up across India, fraudsters are intensifying scholarship scams, preying on students’ hopes for financial aid. These schemes target not only students but also their families, promising fake scholarships in exchange for sensitive personal or banking details.
A shocking audit by the Ministry of Minority Affairs revealed that out of 1,572 minority institutions reviewed, 830 were fake or inactive—over half the total. This led to a staggering misuse of ₹144.83 crore meant for minority student education over five years.
