Curated as a soulful and reflective experience, the musical evenings aim to create a serene atmosphere where audiences can unwind and reconnect with the calming power of melody. The organisers describe the event as a peaceful cultural retreat for the community.
Suron Ki Mehfil: Echoes of Indian classical music
The series opens on 19 February with “Suron Ki Mehfil,” a celebration of Indian classical music. The performance will feature Keerthan Naiga, a distinguished student of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) and an accomplished professional vocalist.
Keerthan’s repertoire will draw upon the rich and timeless traditions of Indian classical music, presenting compositions that resonate with depth, discipline and emotive expression. The evening is expected to showcase the intricacies of classical ragas and the meditative quality of traditional melodies.
Mysterium: A fusion of music and drama
On 20 February, the stage will host “Mysterium,” an evocative fusion of music and drama. The evening will feature Jason Lobo, a young and soulful singer-composer known in the Konkani music circuit for blending poetry with expressive melodies.
A trained classical singer, Jason has built a reputation for presenting reflective and soothing compositions. He will be accompanied by his team, known for delivering immersive performances that combine storytelling with music. The programme promises a harmonious blend of lyrical depth and theatrical expression, offering audiences an intimate and authentic artistic experience.
Promoting cultural engagement
The two-day event reflects the University’s continued efforts to promote cultural engagement and artistic expression among students and the wider community. By collaborating with local cultural organisations, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) seeks to provide platforms that nurture talent and encourage appreciation of diverse art forms.
Entry to both performances is free and open to all. The event’s media partner is Daijiworld 24×7.
Through “Suron Ki Mehfil” and “Mysterium,” Astitva (R), Mangaluru and its partner institutions aim to celebrate music as a unifying force—inviting the public to experience moments of reflection, harmony and shared cultural joy.
