Belagavi Students Safely Return Amid Bangladesh Riots

Belagavi Students Return Home Safely Amid Bangladesh Riots

A group of 25 students from Belagavi, studying in Bangladesh, has safely returned home following nationwide riots that severely disrupted communication infrastructure in the country. The Indian Embassy played a crucial role in facilitating their return amid the escalating tensions.

As the situation in Bangladesh deteriorated, concerned parents reached out to Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar and the district administration for help. Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan provided detailed information about the stranded students to the Indian government, which helped expedite their safe return.

One of the returning students, a medical student, recounted the dire conditions: “About a week ago, we were instructed to remain in our college hostel as rioters had destroyed mobile towers. The situation deteriorated quickly, and we realized it was crucial to return home. We arrived in Belagavi on August 4. Had we stayed any longer, returning would have become even more challenging.”

Another student expressed relief at their return: “Leaving was a huge relief. The situation was extremely unsafe and mentally exhausting. We were all very relieved to get out of there.”

The students’ safe return highlights the efforts of the Indian Embassy and local officials in ensuring their well-being during a period of significant unrest.
