The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) commenced Class X and Class XII board examinations today, issuing a stern warning against rumours and fake claims circulating on social media.

In an official notice, the Board cautioned students and parents about misinformation related to alleged question paper leaks. CBSE stated that in previous years, certain elements attempted to spread false news during examination periods, including sharing fake question papers online and claiming they were genuine.

Fake news may cause panic

The Board clarified that such claims are baseless and intended to create confusion. It emphasised that believing or forwarding unverified messages can lead to unnecessary panic among students at a crucial time.

CBSE noted that rumours have the potential to distract students and heighten anxiety when they should remain calm and focused. Parents, schools and students have been urged not to rely on unverified information circulating on messaging apps and social media platforms.

Strong security measures in place

Assuring stakeholders, CBSE said robust systems have been implemented to ensure that the examinations are conducted smoothly, securely and fairly. The Board reiterated that strict mechanisms are in place to maintain the integrity of the exam process.

It also warned that any attempt to spread misinformation or disrupt the examination process would invite strict action under relevant rules and regulations.

For authentic updates and clarifications regarding the board exams, CBSE advised students and parents to rely only on official communication channels, including its official website and regional offices.

As lakhs of students across the country begin their examinations, authorities have called for collective responsibility to ensure a peaceful and stress-free environment.
