Mangaluru: The Government of India has reconstituted the Coastal Zone Management Committee for Karnataka, and Dr Sarathi Manjappa, Director (Research), Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, has been appointed as a member of this expert body. The committee is chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Environment, Forest and Ecology, Government of Karnataka.


Extensive experience in environmental governance

Dr Manjappa brings with him decades of experience in environmental regulation, coastal governance, and sustainable development. He earlier served as a member of the National Coastal Zone Management Authority from 2007 to 2010 and has been associated with several State and Central Government expert committees dealing with environment and ecology.


Key role in pollution control and advisory bodies

A significant highlight of his career has been his long association with the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB). Dr Manjappa has been serving as a Member and Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee of KSPCB since 2001, playing a crucial role in policy guidance and technical decision-making. In 2025, he was also a member of the Selection Committee constituted by the Government of Karnataka for the appointment of the Chairman of KSPCB.
