Mangaluru: World Homoeopathy Day 2025 was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College to commemorate the 270th birth anniversary of Dr Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of Homoeopathy.

Dignitaries gather to honour Hahnemann’s legacy

The programme began at 9:30 a.m. in the college auditorium, with Dr Reju Kareem, a distinguished alumnus from the 2000 UG batch and former President of IHK, Kerala State, gracing the occasion as Guest of Honour. The event was presided over by Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions.

As part of the traditional observances, Rev. Fr Coelho garlanded the bust of Rev. Fr Augustus Muller, while Dr Reju Kareem paid tribute by garlanding the bust of Dr Samuel Hahnemann. Following a prayer song, the dignitaries were formally escorted to the dais by the convener, Dr Jenita Fernandes.

Ceremonial inauguration and awards presentation

Dr E S J Prabhu Kiran, Principal of the college, welcomed the gathering and introduced the Guest of Honour. The formal inauguration was marked by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries on stage.

Winners of competitions conducted in celebration of World Homoeopathy Day were honoured with awards. Additionally, the prestigious Dr Mukesh Batra Homoeopathy Scholarships were presented:

  • Gold: Ms Jeena Rosily Joy

  • Silver: Ms Anna Johnson

  • Bronze: Ms Sandra Shruthi S

  • These awards were distributed by Rev. Fr Faustine L Lobo, Designate Director of FMCI and Administrator of FMHMC&H.

    Advocating for awareness and outreach

    Rev. Fr Faustine L Lobo addressed the audience, urging homoeopaths to become ambassadors of their field by promoting awareness through digital platforms and mass media. He praised the gentle yet impactful nature of homoeopathy and emphasised the importance of giving back to the system that has benefitted so many.

    In his presidential address, Rev. Fr Richard Coelho remarked on the growing popularity of homoeopathy due to its affordability and minimal side effects. He called for balanced living that integrates medicine, mindfulness, and moral values, and cautioned against the overuse of social media.

    Alumni reconnects with students

    The Guest of Honour, Dr Reju Kareem, was felicitated with a memento by the Director. Later, he engaged in a lively interactive session with students, recounting his professional journey post his education at Father Muller’s, inspiring budding homoeopaths with his experiences.

    The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Jenita Fernandes and the singing of the Institution Anthem. Dr B Leisha Mae and Mr Joe Paul served as Masters of Ceremony.
