In an inspiring story of determination and resilience, Rakshita Maria, daughter of a flower seller in Bengaluru, has scored an impressive 97.3% in the commerce stream, securing 584 out of 600 marks.
Rising above challenges
Rakshita’s achievement stands as a testament to her perseverance despite financial hardships. Her parents, who sell flowers on the streets of Bengaluru, begin their day as early as 3 am, travelling to City Market to procure flowers, make garlands, and sell them near a BBMP park in Hosahalli.
Reflecting on her journey, Rakshita shared that her parents’ relentless efforts became her biggest motivation. While she expected good results, she described her 97% score as a “sweet surprise”.
Smart preparation and focus
Rakshita credited her success to a disciplined and strategic approach to studies. Along with paying close attention in class, she used online resources such as educational videos and practised extensively using previous years’ question papers and answer scripts of toppers.
She acknowledged that she initially struggled with accountancy in her preparatory exams. However, by identifying her weak areas and focusing on consistent practice, she was able to improve significantly.
Importantly, she also made an effort to study portions that were not extensively covered in class. This proved beneficial, as some of those topics appeared in the final examination.
Aspirations for the future
With her strong academic foundation, Rakshita now aims to pursue company secretaryship while enrolling in a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree from the current academic year.
