Mumbai: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has announced an Open House session for students who have qualified in JEE Advanced 2026. The virtual event is aimed at helping successful candidates understand the admission process, academic opportunities, scholarships and campus life before participating in counselling and seat allocation.

The institute announced the initiative shortly after the declaration of JEE Advanced 2026 results on May 31. IIT Bombay congratulated all qualified candidates and acknowledged the contributions of teachers, mentors and family members who supported them throughout their preparation journey.

The Open House is expected to provide aspirants with valuable insights into life at one of India’s premier engineering institutions and help them make informed choices during the admission process.

Open House scheduled for June 7

According to IIT Bombay, the Open House will be conducted virtually on June 7, 2026.

The session will begin at 10 am and will be accessible online to qualified JEE Advanced candidates. IIT Bombay has stated that an interactive meeting link will be shared separately before the event.

In addition to the interactive session, a live broadcast will also be available through IIT Bombay’s official YouTube channel, allowing students and parents to follow the proceedings conveniently.

The institute said the event is designed to familiarise students with various aspects of academic and campus life before they make crucial decisions during the counselling process.

What students can expect

The Open House will cover a wide range of topics relevant to prospective students.

Participants will receive information about undergraduate academic programmes, curriculum structure, research opportunities and various departments at IIT Bombay.

The institute will also provide details regarding scholarships, financial assistance schemes, hostel facilities, student clubs, extracurricular activities and support systems available on campus.

Officials and faculty members are expected to address common queries related to admissions and student life, helping candidates gain a better understanding of what to expect after joining the institute.

The schedule and details of Open House programmes conducted by various IITs are being published on the official Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) website.

These sessions are intended to help candidates compare programmes, understand campus environments and make informed decisions during seat allocation and admissions.

JEE Advanced 2026 at a glance

JEE Advanced 2026 was conducted on May 17 in two sessions.

Paper 1 was held from 9 am to 12 pm, while Paper 2 took place from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

According to official data, 1,87,389 candidates registered for the examination. Of these, 1,79,694 candidates appeared for both papers.

A total of 56,880 candidates qualified the examination, making them eligible for admission to IITs and other participating institutions.

Among the successful candidates, 10,107 were female students, reflecting continued participation and success of women in engineering entrance examinations.

Admission process ahead

With the results now declared, qualified candidates will participate in the JoSAA counselling and seat allocation process.
