Bengaluru: The Karnataka Examinations Authority has extended the deadline for UGCET 2026 document verification till May 21, offering additional time for students seeking admission to undergraduate professional courses through KCET 2026 counselling.
The extension applies to candidates applying for engineering, pharmacy, agriculture, veterinary and allied professional courses across colleges in Karnataka.
Officials said the decision was taken to help students complete the mandatory verification process and avoid difficulties during counselling and seat allotment.
Verification mandatory for KCET counselling
The document verification process is compulsory for all candidates participating in KCET 2026 counselling.
Students claiming eligibility under various reservation or special clauses must visit designated verification centres with the required original documents and photocopies.
Candidates who fail to complete verification before the revised deadline may not be permitted to participate in option entry and seat allotment despite qualifying in the entrance examination.
KEA had earlier started the verification process this month following the completion of the UGCET 2026 examination held in April.
Steps to complete document verification
Candidates appearing for KCET 2026 counselling can complete the process by following these steps:
- Visit the official KEA portal
- Check the allotted verification centre and verification schedule
- Carry all required original documents along with photocopies
- Submit documents as per the eligibility clause mentioned in the application
- Collect the verification slip after successful verification
- Verify all details on the slip before proceeding for counselling and option entry
Documents required for verification
Candidates are required to carry the following documents during verification:
- KCET 2026 application form
- KCET admit card
- Class 10 marks card and certificate
- Class 12 marks card and certificate

- Rural study or Kannada medium certificates wherever applicable
KEA has advised students to ensure all documents are valid and updated to avoid delays during verification.
Admissions for multiple professional courses
UGCET, commonly known as KCET, is conducted annually for admissions to undergraduate professional programmes in Karnataka.
The examination serves as the gateway for admission into engineering, pharmacy, agriculture, veterinary sciences and several allied courses offered by colleges across the state.
Following document verification, candidates will be allowed to participate in option entry and subsequent seat allotment rounds conducted by KEA.
Students advised to complete process early
Officials have urged students not to wait until the final day and complete verification at the earliest possible date.
Verification centres are expected to witness increased crowds closer to the deadline, particularly from candidates seeking reservation benefits and special category admissions.
Candidates are also advised to carefully preserve their verification slips, as they are required during future stages of the counselling process.
Conclusion
With KEA extending the document verification deadline till May 21, KCET 2026 aspirants have received additional time to complete a crucial step in the admission process. Students are encouraged to finish verification early to avoid last-minute complications during counselling and seat allotment.
