Madikeri: A delegation from the Kodagu University Welfare Committee, led by Madikeri MLA Manthar Gowda, met Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar in Bengaluru on Monday, urging the state government not to shut down Kodagu University.

The delegation included Krishne Gowda, V.P. Shashidhar, H.S. Chandramouli, and K.P. Chandrakala, who emphasized the need to protect higher education opportunities for students in Kodagu district.

Notably, some faculty members have suggested merging Kodagu University with Mangalore University, and the cabinet sub-committee is set to discuss this proposal.
