The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has alerted district-level officials to carefully monitor student registrations for the Class 10/SSLC board exams, citing concerns over unauthorized schools. Last year, over 5,000 students from 130 unaffiliated schools struggled to secure admission tickets, leading KSEAB to grant a 15-day extension to resolve their registration issues.
This year, the board aims to prevent a repeat by instructing Deputy Directors of Public Instruction (DDPIs) to block unauthorized schools from registering students. Block Education Officers (BEOs) are required to provide updated affiliation lists, and any registration issues will hold BEOs accountable. Concentrated primarily in Bengaluru’s North and South districts, unauthorized schools caused last-minute complications, with some students being relocated to nearby schools.
Both the private schools management association and the parents association have called for a public list of unauthorized schools, allowing parents to ensure proper affiliations before exams.
