Manipal: The Engineering alumni of the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), batch of 1995-1999/2000, gathered at the MIT campus to commemorate their Silver Reunion. Over 225 engineers from across the globe representing ten streams—Architecture, Bio-medical, Civil, Computer Science, Chemical, Electronics & Communication, Electrical, Industrial Production, Mechanical, and Print Media—came together to relive their cherished memories and celebrate their alma mater.

A Procession of Nostalgia

The day’s festivities began with a vibrant procession from the iconic Kamath Circle, now called Student Plaza, to MIT’s Main Block. Alumni, many of whom were visiting the campus for the first time since their graduation, were amazed by the institution’s transformation. The enhanced facilities, cutting-edge courses, advanced laboratories, and centres for research and innovation left them in awe.

Reflecting on Growth and Gratitude

The gathering was addressed by MIT’s Director, Joint Director, and Associate Director, who highlighted the institute’s growth trajectory. They invited alumni to contribute their expertise to mentor future generations of engineers.

In a heartfelt gesture, the alumni felicitated over 50 retired and senior faculty members, current Heads of Departments, and staff who had made a lasting impact on their lives. The celebration was a perfect platform for reminiscing about college days, sharing the impact of MIT’s core values on their personal and professional lives, and reaffirming their commitment to societal contributions.

Launch of MIT Alumni Association Portal

One of the highlights of the day was the launch of the official MIT Alumni Association portal, aimed at uniting MIT alumni from all batches and across the world. The platform is envisioned to strengthen the alumni network and foster collaboration across generations.

Celebrating Talent and Bonds

The event also featured a private cultural evening where alumni showcased diverse talents, from singing and dancing to poetry, stand-up comedy, and instrumental performances. It was a joyful celebration of their camaraderie and personal growth.
