New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on June 21 for more than 22.79 lakh candidates across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. With one of the country’s largest entrance examinations set to take place, the agency has issued a comprehensive advisory covering reporting time, biometric verification, permitted items, examination-day facilities and candidate support services.

Candidates have been advised to carefully follow all instructions, arrive at their centres well in advance and rely only on official communications to avoid last-minute confusion.

Examination schedule and reporting time

The NEET UG 2026 re-examination will be conducted from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm.

Candidates must report to their designated examination centres between 11:00 am and 1:30 pm. The NTA has made it clear that entry gates will close sharply at 1:30 pm, and no candidate will be allowed to enter after that time under any circumstances.

Candidates eligible for compensatory time under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD/PwBD) category will be permitted to continue writing the examination until 6:20 pm.

Documents required at the examination centre

Candidates must carry the following documents:

  • Printed copy of the NEET UG 2026 admit card
  • One original valid photo identity proof
  • Two passport-size photographs for the attendance sheet

The NTA has also advised candidates to verify the exact location of their examination centre from the admit card, as navigation applications may occasionally display incorrect locations.

What if biometric verification fails?

The NTA has clarified that candidates will not be denied entry if biometric verification cannot be completed due to:

  • Technical malfunction of biometric devices
  • Poor fingerprint quality
  • UIDAI connectivity issues
  • Physical inability affecting biometric capture

In such cases, candidates will be required to sign a written undertaking available with the Centre Superintendent or Observer. Manual identity verification will then be conducted using valid identification documents, and candidates will be allowed to appear for the examination.

Facilities available at examination centres

To ensure a smooth examination experience amid summer conditions, NTA has arranged several facilities at all centres.

These include:

  • Reliable power backup and generators
  • Adequate lighting and fans
  • Wall clocks in examination rooms
  • Drinking water facilities
  • Sanitation arrangements
  • On-site medical support
  • Additional biometric verification machines
  • Trained staff to speed up the verification process

Candidates are allowed to carry a transparent water bottle inside the centre.

Diabetic candidates may also carry sugar tablets and fruits such as bananas, apples or oranges, along with a transparent water bottle, in accordance with NTA guidelines.

Dress code and prohibited items

Candidates have been instructed to strictly follow the prescribed dress code.

Those wearing customary or religious attire, full-sleeved clothing or woollens should arrive early to allow sufficient time for security checks and frisking procedures.

The following items are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall:

  • Mobile phones
  • Smart watches
  • Bluetooth devices
  • Calculators
  • Wallets
  • Jewellery
  • Metallic accessories
  • Food packets
  • Any electronic gadgets

Candidates carrying prohibited items may face disciplinary action as per examination rules.

NTA advisory for candidates

The examination authority has urged candidates to:

  • Reach centres well before the reporting window closes
  • Account for traffic congestion and weather conditions
  • Follow all dress code instructions
  • Carry only permitted items
  • Trust official sources for updates
  • Remain calm and confident during the examination

The NTA also warned candidates against rumours regarding question paper leaks or unauthorised information circulating on social media platforms. Any suspicious messages, channels or claims should be immediately reported to the agency or cyber-crime authorities.

Helpline and support services

Candidates requiring assistance can contact the NTA between 10:00 am and 5:15 pm through the following channels:

Candidates can also access updates through the official NEET portal and other authorised government platforms.

For mental health and emotional support, the NTA has highlighted the availability of Tele-MANAS, the national 24×7 mental health helpline, accessible by dialling 14416.

With the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, candidates should focus on timely reporting, carrying the required documents and following all examination-day guidelines.
