The walls of Hanehalli School, Barkur, now proudly display paintings of legendary figures, thanks to the 5th batch trainees of the Koti Chennayya Army Pre-Recruitment Training School. Before completing their training, these students not only beautified the school but also constructed a bus shelter using their own funds.
Guided by amateur artist Abhishek Patil, the team painted Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Bhagat Singh, and Sangolli Rayanna on the school’s compound walls. Meanwhile, Ravi Shastri, Maruti Neelappa, and their group built a metal-roofed shelter with seating arrangements for commuters, demonstrating their dedication to community service.
“We wanted to leave something behind for our school, so we built a bus shelter,” shared trainee Ravi Shastri.
The Koti Chennayya Training School provides free food, accommodation, and four months of intensive training for aspiring army recruits, including physical fitness, computer skills, and sports coaching. Veterans like Subedar Janardhan, Havaldar Mahantesh, and Lance Naik Krishnappa have been mentoring students for the past five years, fostering discipline and patriotism.
