Mangaluru: The women’s volleyball team of St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) secured the runners-up position in the VTU Mangaluru Division Volleyball Tournament held at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management (SCEM), Adyar, on April 25, 2026.

The team displayed commendable skill, coordination, and determination throughout the tournament, competing against top collegiate teams from across the region.

Strong performance under guidance

The team performed under the guidance of Ms. Vaneesha V Rodrigues, Physical Education Director (PED), and Mr. Sudheer, Assistant PED, whose training and support played a crucial role in the team’s success.

Their consistent effort and strategic gameplay enabled them to reach the finals and secure the runners-up trophy.

Individual excellence recognised

Adding to the team’s achievement, Ms. Renika Yathish, a third-year Computer Science Engineering (CSE) student, was awarded the Best All-rounder of the tournament for her outstanding performance.

Her contribution was instrumental in the team’s overall success and highlighted her individual talent and versatility on the court.

The achievement has brought pride to SJEC, reflecting the institution’s emphasis on sports and overall student development alongside academics.

The Management of SJEC congratulated the team members and the Physical Education Directors for their dedication and for bringing laurels to the institution.
