Mangaluru: The School of Information Science and Technology of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) formally inaugurated the ICT Academy Skill Development Centre in collaboration with ICT Academy at Eric Mathais Hall.

The programme was presided over by Dr Ronald Nazareth, Registrar of the University. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr Saravanan G, Associate Vice President – Academic Operations, Project Implementation and Global Partnerships, ICT Academy, while Mr D. Vishnu Prasad, Deputy General Manager and State Head – Karnataka, ICT Academy, was the Guest of Honour.

The event was attended by Dr Ravindraswami K., Associate Dean, School of Information Science and Technology; Ms Shilpa Shetty, Head of the Department – BCA; Ms Prafulla, Head of the Department – B.Sc. CS & DS; and Dr Royal Praveen D’Souza, Assistant Dean and ICT Coordinator, along with faculty members and students.

MoU exchange strengthens industry–academia collaboration

A key highlight of the programme was the formal exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University and ICT Academy, marking a significant step towards strengthening industry–academia collaboration.

In his address, the Chief Guest emphasised the growing importance of industry-integrated skill development in preparing students for the dynamic demands of the professional landscape. He commended the University for proactively establishing platforms that bridge academic learning with industry expectations.

The Guest of Honour underlined the necessity of continuous upskilling and encouraged students to make active use of such initiatives to enhance their employability and career readiness.

Infosys training certificates distributed

Another major highlight of the event was the distribution of training certificates to students who successfully completed the Skill Development Programme on “E-Commerce Team Lead,” conducted in association with ICT Academy and Infosys Foundation.

The dignitaries congratulated the certificate recipients and motivated them to leverage their newly acquired competencies for professional growth.

The programme concluded on a positive note, reaffirming the University’s commitment to promoting employability-oriented education and fostering meaningful industry partnerships.
