Mangaluru: St Aloysius ITI marked Aloysius Fiesta 2K24 Ethnic Day with vibrant celebrations on January 21 at 10 AM on the college premises.
The event featured Seetharam Kumar Kateel, a renowned Yakshagana artist from Hanumagiri Mela, as the chief guest. Guests of honor included alumni Arvin D’Souza (Production Line Leader, England), Ashwin Pinto (Logistics Coordinator, Dubai), and Samith Darren Mendonsa (HVAC Technician, Dubai). The event was presided over by Fr John D’Souza SJ, the institution’s director, and was graced by Roshan D’Souza (Principal), Alwyn Menezes (Vice Principal), and other faculty members.
The program commenced with a prayer song by first-year fashion designing students, followed by a traditional chende performance. Umesh J.A., convener of the program, welcomed the gathering, and the chief guest inaugurated the event by cutting the ribbon tied to the Ethnic Day board.
In his address, Seetharam Kumar Kateel emphasized the importance of education, parental sacrifices, and cultural traditions like Yakshagana and chende, which he likened to yogasana. He encouraged students to respect their parents and schools while striving to become responsible citizens.
Fr John D’Souza SJ highlighted the diverse talents of students and inspired them to aim for greatness, following in the footsteps of the alumni present.
The event featured an inter-trade variety competition judged by Roopashree Vorkady and Harshith. Winners included:
- 1st Prize: AC Technician Batch 2 (Mentor: Alwyn Lobo)
- 2nd Prize: Fashion Designing 2nd Year (Mentor: Vanditha Rego)
- 3rd Prize: MMV 2nd Year (Mentor: Naveen)
Cultural Secretary Prajith B proposed the vote of thanks, and the program was compered by Viraj Shetty, a second-year MMV student.
