Mangaluru: The School of Information Science and Technology at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, successfully concluded CodeSprint 2026, a high-energy 32-hour national-level hackathon that brought together young innovators from across the country. The valedictory ceremony marked the culmination of two days of intense coding, ideation, teamwork, and perseverance, celebrating creativity-driven problem-solving in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
A platform for young tech innovators
CodeSprint 2026 challenged participants to push the boundaries of logic, innovation, and collaboration under strict time constraints. The hackathon fostered an environment where students translated ideas into functional solutions, reflecting the growing importance of experiential learning in technology education.
Insightful addresses from industry and academia
The valedictory programme was graced by Ms Ranjitha Prabhu, Co-founder of Codezyng, as the Chief Guest. In her inspiring address, she highlighted the resilience and irreplaceable value of human talent in the age of automation. She emphasised that while artificial intelligence continues to evolve, core technology roles depend on uniquely human qualities such as creativity, adaptability, and critical thinking—attributes that cannot be replaced by machines.
Adding academic perspective, Dr Charles V. Furtado, Director of the Administrative Block, attended as Guest of Honour. He lauded CodeSprint as a vital initiative that encourages students to transcend conventional boundaries and test the limits of their potential, preparing them for real-world technological challenges.
The Presidential Address was delivered by Rev. Dr Melwyn D’Cunha SJ, Pro Vice-Chancellor of St Aloysius University. He urged students to reimagine possibilities, connect present projects with future aspirations, and use platforms like CodeSprint to bridge academic learning with innovation-driven careers.
Celebrating excellence and achievement
The prize distribution ceremony recognised exceptional projects that emerged from the 32-hour coding marathon. The awards were presented across internal and external participant categories, with winners securing first, second, and third positions, along with five consolation prizes in each category. The total prize pool stood at ₹1 lakh, reflecting the scale and significance of the competition.
