Mangaluru: St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, celebrated its PG Graduation Day – 2025 on Saturday at 10.00 am in the Kalam Auditorium, conferring postgraduate degree certificates to the Class of 2025.

A total of 234 graduates received their degrees, comprising 110 MBA graduates, 119 MCA graduates and 5 MBA (IEV) graduates. The solemn ceremony commenced with an invocation, seeking divine blessings for the graduates as they embarked on their professional journeys.

Dignitaries grace the ceremony

Dr T N Nagabhushana, Vice Chancellor of Kishkinda University, attended as the Chief Guest. Mr John Rohan, Client Services Manager at Global E-SoftSys Pvt Ltd and an alumnus of the MBA batch (2007–2009), was the Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Mangalore and President of SJEC.

Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director of SJEC, delivered the welcome address, greeting the dignitaries, graduates, parents and faculty members. Principal Dr Rio D’Souza introduced the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour.

Inspiring messages to graduates

Addressing the gathering, Mr John Rohan described SJEC as a foundation that shapes one’s future. Reflecting on his student days, he highlighted the importance of leadership, ethical thinking and adaptability in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. He encouraged graduates to measure success by the positive impact they create and concluded with his guiding principles of hard work, dedication and faith.

The presentation of certificates formed the highlight of the ceremony, with graduates of MBA, MCA and MBA (IEV) programmes formally receiving their postgraduate degrees. Principal Dr Rio D’Souza administered the Graduation Oath, wherein graduates pledged to uphold ethical values and professional responsibilities.

Graduate reflections and academic excellence

Representing the Class of 2025, Ms Michelle Monteiro (MBA) and Ms Rashmitha Shet (MCA) delivered the graduates’ response. They reflected on their transformative academic journey and expressed gratitude to faculty, mentors and parents.

In his Graduation Address, Dr T N Nagabhushana congratulated the graduates and emphasised ethical leadership, innovation and lifelong learning. He urged them to embrace emerging technologies, demonstrate social responsibility and pursue excellence in their chosen fields.

Scholastic rank holders and sports achievers were recognised and honoured during the ceremony. Felicitations were accorded to the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour by Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha.

Presidential address and conclusion

In his Presidential Address, the Bishop reminded graduates that true success lies in character and values. He encouraged them to remain compassionate, dream big and contribute meaningfully to society while staying connected to their alma mater.

Rev. Fr Kenneth R Crasta, Assistant Director, along with various Deans, Heads of Departments and Ms Jayashree M, Co-convenor, were present. Ms Acharya Chitralekha J, Convenor, proposed the vote of thanks, while Mr Nelson Fernandes and Ms Prajwala Preema Rodrigues compered the programme.
