Students allege exam fee scam at PA College, Konaje

Students and parents from PA College, Konaje, have accused the college administration and Mangalore University of refusing to issue hall tickets despite examination fees being paid. The administration claims the fees were not received, allegedly pressuring students to repay.

At a press conference on Monday, Ayesha Apna, a second-year B.Sc. Food Nutrition and Food Technology student, recounted her experience. She paid ₹3,200 on November 18 via the Unified University and College Management System (UUCMS) portal, but the payment status showed as “initiated.” The college, citing non-receipt, demanded repayment from 26 students.

Following a police complaint filed on December 3 at the Konaje station and shared with the Higher Education Minister, local MLA U.T. Khader, and the Police Commissioner, the payment status updated to “success” on December 7. However, students still haven’t received their hall tickets, with exams set for December 12.

Advocate Saheed Baddoor accused the college administration of running a “systematic scam” to extort additional fees, urging authorities to investigate and protect economically disadvantaged students.

Students and parents, including Reshna Mishria and Abdul Khader K.H., emphasized the urgency of the matter and demanded swift action.
