Yadgir: A shocking incident unfolded on Tuesday when students of Government Higher Primary School were forced to clean drains and the borewell area, sparking outrage.

Reports confirm that the school headmaster instructed the students to carry out the cleaning task. A video of the incident went viral, prompting Deputy Director of School Education C.S. Mudhol to order an immediate investigation by the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Shahapur taluk.

Speaking to TNIE, BEO Y.H. Haragi stated that preliminary findings confirm the headmaster’s involvement in assigning cleaning duties to the children. A show-cause notice has been issued to the headmaster, and a committee has been formed to investigate the matter. The inquiry panel includes Renuka Patil (coordinating officer, BEO office), Mallikarjun (education convener, BEO office), and Kurkunda Malakappa (community resource center representative).

After being alerted about the case, Shashidhar Kosambe, a member of the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, took suo motu action. He contacted Yadgir’s School Education Department officials and directed the Deputy Director of School Education to visit the school and submit a detailed report on Wednesday.

Authorities are expected to take strict action against those responsible for violating child rights.
