About TED and TEDx

TED is a global non-profit organisation devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading.” Since its inception in 1984 as a conference focused on Technology, Entertainment, and Design, TED has evolved into a global platform covering topics ranging from science, business, and education to global affairs and culture. Its flagship conferences feature talks by leading thinkers and practitioners, each limited to 18 minutes, designed to spark curiosity and meaningful dialogue.

TEDx is a grassroots initiative created to extend the spirit of TED to local communities across the world. Organised independently under a free licence from TED, TEDx events provide a platform for local voices, ideas, and research that have the potential to inspire communities. While not controlled by TED, TEDx organisers adhere to strict format and content guidelines, ensuring quality, integrity, and relevance. Today, more than 3,000 TEDx events are held annually across the globe.

A legacy of excellence at St Aloysius

Established in 1880 and located atop the scenic Idgah Hill, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) is one of the most respected centres of higher education in coastal Karnataka. With a student strength exceeding 7,000 and a rich Jesuit heritage spanning over 145 years, the institution is known for its emphasis on holistic education, academic rigour, and social responsibility.

The university’s motto, Lucet et Ardet (“Shine to Enkindle”), reflects its commitment to shaping men and women who are intellectually competent, morally grounded, and socially sensitive. Beyond academics, the campus is also renowned for the iconic St Aloysius Chapel, whose frescoes attract visitors from across the country for their artistic and spiritual significance. Theme: “Unwritten threads of thoughts”

The theme for this year’s TEDxStAloysius, “Unwritten Threads of Thoughts,” invites audiences to explore the subtle, often unseen ideas that shape human creativity and progress. Every innovation and transformation begins as a quiet thought — a spark waiting to be articulated and woven into reality.

The theme celebrates not only stories that have already been told, but also the countless ideas yet to be expressed. It highlights the invisible connections between imagination, curiosity, and reflection, reminding us that these unwritten threads have the power to influence choices, relationships, and the future itself.

Diverse line-up of speakers

The event will feature an eclectic group of speakers, each bringing a unique perspective shaped by experience and passion. Among them is Hritik Sharma, an entrepreneur and educator committed to advancing India’s education ecosystem through initiatives such as GK’s Institutions and Eduholik. Simrun Chopra, a certified nutritionist and fitness coach, will speak on holistic wellness and women’s health, drawing from her entrepreneurial journey.

Fashion stylist and content creator Mariyam Hussain, known for styling prominent personalities on national platforms, will share insights into creative expression and individuality. Veteran ENT specialist Dr P. P. Devan will reflect on resilience and purpose, shaped by over four decades in medical practice and personal challenges.

Educator and wellness practitioner Leeza Kiran Rodrigues will discuss redefining success through balance and meaning, while nationally recognised Yakshagana artiste Advika Shetty will highlight cultural heritage and discipline in the performing arts. Animal rights activist and UN awardee Zabi Khan will speak on compassion and advocacy, and award-winning filmmaker Prashanth S. Nayaka will explore storytelling through visual media. The line-up also includes Colonel Arun Iyer, a decorated Indian Army veteran turned leadership mentor, and Hemant Sharma, a sports entrepreneur known for blending sports, culture, and community.

Building ideas, community, and impact
