A second-year BTech student at IIT Goa was found dead in her hostel room, allegedly by suicide, according to police reports. The 19-year-old, originally from Madhya Pradesh and enrolled in the Computer Science and Engineering program, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan by hostel staff after her roommate returned from lunch and found the door locked from the inside.
She was quickly taken to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. Preliminary investigations suggest she may have been dealing with health issues. A suicide note was recovered, in which she expressed remorse to her parents for her actions. The motives behind her tragic decision remain unclear.
