Trichy: The 50th edition of Festember commenced with great enthusiasm at the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, marked by an inauguration ceremony on Day Zero that featured distinguished guests. Director Ms. G. Aghila, Festember founding member Mr. Gurumurthy Kalyanaram, and Chief Guest Mr. S. Selvakumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (L&O), Trichy City, shared their insights and nostalgia about the festival’s journey over the past five decades. Their reflections set an optimistic tone for the celebrations ahead.

The inaugural day concluded with a dynamic performance by the NIT Tiruchirappalli Dance and Music Troupe, energizing attendees for the exciting days to come.

Day One was packed with competitions, kicking off with Literature quizzes at dawn. The Music and Dance clusters showcased talented participants in thrilling performances, while artists painted vibrant murals across the campus and photographers captured the essence of the event. The dramatics cluster entertained with compelling storytelling, and gaming enthusiasts engaged in fierce virtual battles. The day culminated in an electrifying EDM night featuring DJ Holy C.

As the sun set on Day One, organizers swiftly prepared for an even more eventful Day Two. The day resumed with ongoing competitions and introduced new events, including the Major’s Golden Jubilee Quiz. Workshops on Tanjore painting, perfume, and jewelry making attracted significant interest from students.

The day was further enriched by guest lectures from notable figures such as actress Gouri Kishan, filmmaker Mari Selvaraj, Wysa’s CEO, and the cast of Vettiyan, who shared invaluable insights and experiences. The Lost Fireflies closed the evening with a captivating performance for Fusion Night.

As the penultimate day unfolded, anticipation ran high among participants eager to showcase their talents. The Mr. and Ms. Festember titles were awarded, alongside the announcement of winners from major competitions like Choreonite and Gigahertz. The campus buzzed with energy as attendees enjoyed food stalls and vibrant decorations, reflecting the festival’s spirit.

The 50th edition of Festember, themed “The Deccan Odyssey,” culminated in a spectacular finale featuring a performance by Karthik, leaving the audience moved and nostalgic. This year’s celebration truly highlighted the festival’s legacy as the largest cultural event in South India.
