Mangaluru: Yenepoya Dental College organised a Road Safety Awareness Programme in association with the Indian Dental Association Dakshina Kannada Branch to promote responsible road behaviour and traffic safety among students and healthcare professionals.

The programme aimed to highlight the importance of following traffic regulations and encouraging community participation in road safety awareness.

Police officer stresses importance of traffic discipline

The programme was inaugurated by Mrs Najma Farooqi, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Traffic Sub Division, Mangaluru City, who attended the event as the Chief Guest.

In her keynote address, she highlighted the increasing number of road traffic accidents and stressed the importance of strictly adhering to traffic rules.

She emphasised the need for motorists to wear helmets, use seat belts and avoid distractions such as mobile phone use while driving. She also urged students and healthcare professionals to play an active role in spreading awareness about safe driving practices within society.

The programme was presided over by Dr Laxmikanth Chatra, Principal of Yenepoya Dental College.

Other dignitaries present on the dais included Dr Sham S. Bhat, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry; Dr Jagadish Chandra, President of the Indian Dental Association – Dakshina Kannada Branch; and Dr Imran Pasha, Vice President of the Indian Dental Association – Dakshina Kannada Branch.

The awareness programme witnessed active participation from students and faculty members of the college.
