Actor Alia Bhatt, who welcomed her daughter Raha Kapoor in 2022, has admitted that there are days when she feels like deleting her social media accounts altogether. Speaking candidly about fame, privacy and motherhood, Alia reflected on the emotional push and pull of living a public life.
In an interview with Esquire India, Alia said the constant need to stay engaged online can feel overwhelming. “There are days when I wake up and think, okay, I just want to delete my social media and be an actor who acts. I don’t want to keep up with this conversation again and again,” she said.
Balancing gratitude and privacy
Despite the urge to disconnect, Alia acknowledged that social media also connects her to fans who have supported her since the beginning of her career. “I know that would really cut off contact with so many people who’ve supported me from the beginning, and I don’t want to do that,” she added.
The actor also spoke about how motherhood has reshaped her sense of privacy. “Now my personal life is so personal that I find it a little bit difficult,” she said, revealing that her phone’s photo album is filled almost entirely with pictures of her daughter Raha. “I actually have to work hard to take pictures of myself,” she shared with a smile.
Motherhood as a life-changing shift
Calling motherhood “a massive change”, Alia said it alters not just the body but also the mindset. Since becoming a mother, she has been more guarded about what she chooses to share publicly, preferring to keep certain moments just for herself and her family.
Alia married actor Ranbir Kapoor in April 2022, and the couple welcomed Raha later that year. They made their first public appearance with their daughter during Christmas celebrations in 2023.
What’s next on screen
On the professional front, Alia will next be seen in Alpha, a high-octane action thriller directed by Shiv Rawail. The film, part of the YRF Spy Universe, also stars Sharvari Wagh and Bobby Deol. She will also feature alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War.
