Mumbai: Actress Alia Bhatt has shared glimpses of her family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, giving fans a peek into the festive moments she spent with husband Ranbir Kapoor, daughter Raha, mother Soni Razdan and mother-in-law Neetu Kapoor.
The Jigra actress took to Instagram on Saturday to share a series of pictures from the celebrations, with a sweet sketch of Lord Ganesh made by little Raha emerging as one of the highlights.
Raha’s Ganesh sketch steals the spotlight
Among the pictures shared by Alia was a glimpse of Raha drawing Lord Ganesh on a sheet of paper and colouring the sketch with crayons.
The intimate family moment offered fans a glimpse into how the Kapoor family celebrated the festival at home.
Alia also shared pictures from the occasion showing herself welcoming Lord Ganesh home during Ganesh Chaturthi. In one of the photographs, she was seen performing aarti with Ranbir, Neetu Kapoor and Raha.
The actress also included a selfie with her sister Shaheen Bhatt and mother Soni Razdan, along with a few pictures of herself dressed in ethnic attire for the festive celebrations.
Kapoor family bids farewell to Bappa
On Friday evening, Ranbir, Alia, Raha and Neetu Kapoor participated in the Ganesh visarjan ceremony.
Ranbir was seen carrying the Ganpati idol as the family prepared to bid farewell to Bappa. He also greeted those around him with “Ganpati Bappa Morya” before heading inside.
Alia was seen carrying Raha in her arms during the ceremony. She carefully kept her daughter’s face away from the cameras while making her way back inside.
Even as the family posed for photographers, Alia continued to ensure that Raha remained shielded from the spotlight. Her efforts to protect her daughter’s privacy were evident as she walked backwards while returning indoors.
Raj Kapoor’s Ganesh Chaturthi tradition
The Kapoor family has a long association with Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. For several decades, devotees were welcomed at RK Studios in Chembur during the festival.
The tradition was started by legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor in the 1950s and continued for almost seven decades, becoming an important part of the family’s connection with the festival.
While the Kapoor family no longer hosts the celebrations at RK Studios, Ganesh Chaturthi continues to be marked privately by the family.
Alia and Ranbir’s work front
On the professional front, Alia and Ranbir are set to share the screen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film Love & War, which also stars Vicky Kaushal.
The film marks Ranbir’s first professional collaboration with Vicky, while he has previously worked with Alia in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmāstra and she starred in Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi.
Love & War is reportedly set against the backdrop of the armed forces and revolves around the intertwined lives of characters played by Ranbir, Vicky and Alia.
Meanwhile, Alia and Ranbir are also expected to reunite in the next instalment of Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmāstra franchise.
