Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran hit theaters on October 31 and has been steadily climbing the box office charts ever since. Despite a number of films releasing after it, Amaran has maintained its stronghold with high occupancy rates across theaters. The film, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, has now achieved a remarkable feat by breaking a major Tamil cinema record for 2024.
The pan-Indian movie has set a new milestone by surpassing Vijay’s GOAT in ticket sales. According to BookMyShow data, Amaran has sold 4.52 million tickets, outperforming GOAT and other major films in its category. This achievement comes as a testament to its growing popularity among audiences.
In just 19 days, the film has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark, marking a personal best for Sivakarthikeyan. Amaran has been well-received for its portrayal of the late Tamil Nadu soldier Mukund Varadarajan’s life, receiving widespread praise. Originally slated for a Netflix release, the film’s box office success led to a delay. Produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raajkamal Films International and directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy, Amaran continues to draw audiences and perform strongly at the box office.
With its widespread appeal during the Diwali season and a record-breaking performance, Amaran has cemented its place in Tamil cinema history.
